What is a Virtual Democratic Country

A new way of organizing communities whose primary organizing principle is as a system for social justice. A country that is not bounded by geography but has the policital, economic, social and cultural features typically associated with countries. A community that is governed by democratic practices with its own Constitution and Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, its own System of Justice and mechanisms of enforcement. Its own form of commerce governed by the following principles which the community holds as self-evident

  • That the knowledge of life is the essential labor of every life.

  • That every life has an inalienable right to and responsibility for its knowledge.

  • That every life has a right to revenues generated through or from the shared use of its knowledge.

  • That all life encodes in its unique signature an intrinsically creative insight into living.

  • That the world is bountiful with human creativity.

  • That the greatest value of creativity is reached when it is shared in a respectful and just manner.

  • That democracies and institutions within democracies are living entities that can and must grow, change and refine themselves in order to create more just, compassionate and free societies.

  • That no life should end without its legacy being valued and that each life develops knowledge that is irreplaceable and needed by the human community.

  • That every life has its knowledge and that taken together all this life knowledge is a most powerful force for good in the world.

  • That every Contributor must tell the truth.

  • That the Virtual Democratic Country is a Contributor itself.

  • That no Contributor should steal or help another person or entity to steal other Contributor’s knowledge.

  • That the protection of children’s knowledge and general well being up until the age of majority is among the highest responsibilities of every Contributor.

  • That the appreciation of creativity and creative acts in oneself and others stimulates more creativity in oneself and in others.

  • That the safety and security of Contributor’s knowledge is a shared responsibilty. That the Virtual Democratic Country is responsible for making good faith efforts to ensure the safety of the Virtual Democratic Country’s systems and the Contributor is responsible for making good faith efforts to secure the access of the Contributor to the Virtual Democratic Country.

  • That this list holds the seeds and the promise of the Virtual Democratic Country's ultimate unfolding.
